An All-America in 1971 and a unanimous choice in 1972. That same year he won the Jacobs Award as the nation's best blocker at guard. He was named Lineman of the Year by the Birmingham Quarterback Club, Atlanta Touchdown Club and the Miami Touchdown Club. Paul W. Bryant called Hannah, "the finest offensive lineman I've ever been around."

    John Hannah is a member of Alabama's All-Century team and the Southeastern Conference All-50 Year team (1933-1982). Hannah is also one of seven former Crimson Tiders to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
